PAYMENT DATA

State Breakdown of Payments to Medicare and Medicaid Providers through December 31, 2011.

The map below shows how Medicare and Medicaid payments were made to eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) across the United States. Payments are cumulative- the first Medicaid payments were made in January 2011, and the first Medicare payments were made in May 2011.

More than $1.3 billion in Medicare EHR Incentive Program payments have been made between May 2011 and the end of December 2011.
More than $1.1 billion in Medicaid EHR Incentive Program payments have been made between January 2011 (when the first set of states launched their programs) and the end of December 2011.

State Breakdown of Registration by Medicaid and Medicare Providers through December 2011.

This map shows how many EPs, eligible hospitals, and CAHs have registered for the Medicaid and Medicare Incentive Programs by state. Registration numbers are cumulative since registration opened in January 2011.

More than 176,049 eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals are actively registered in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.

The map shows how many EPs, eligible hospitals and CAHs have registered for the Medicare Incentive Program by state. Registration numbers are cumulative since registration opened in January 2011.

- More than 124,089 eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals have registered for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program.

The map shows the number of EPs, eligible hospitals, and CAHs who have registered for the Medicaid Incentive Program in each state. These registration numbers are cumulative since registration opened in January 2011.

- More than 49,126 EPs and eligible hospitals have registered for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.

Update on State Launches of Medicaid EHR Program.

- December 5: Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program launched in South Dakota and Wyoming.
- Since January 2011, 43 states have launched their Medicaid Incentive Programs.
- The Medicaid State Information web page lists which states have launched Medicaid Incentive Programs.

Recipients of Medicare EHR Incentive Program Payments

In compliance with the HITECH Act's requirement, CMS has posted the names, business phone numbers, and business addresses of Medicare eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) that have successfully demonstrated meaningful use and received a payment as of December 2011. Medicare EPs, eligible hospitals, and CAH's were able to verify and edit their business phone numbers and addresses during the registration process. CMS has not posted information on group practices, as incentive payments are not provided at the group practice level.

Please Note:

Not all providers are eligible for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. Only those professionals, hospitals, and CAHs that are eligible based on the regulation's eligibility requirements, attested to meaningfully using an EHR, and have received a Medicare incentive payment will be displayed online. Finally, the Act does not require CMS to post the names of eligible professionals, eligible hospitals and CAHs that have received Medicaid EHR Incentive Program payments. In addition, please note that these lists will be updated on a quarterly basis.
