Overview The primary purpose of the Test Phase is to determine whether the automated system/application software or other IT solution developed or acquired and preliminarily tested during the Development Phase is ready for implementation. During the Test Phase, formally controlled and focused testing is performed to uncover errors and bugs in the IT solution that need to be resolved. There are a number of specific validation tests that are performed during the Test Phase (e.g., requirements validation, system integration, interface, regression, security, performance, stress, usability, and user acceptance). Additional tests may be conducted to validate documentation, training, contingency plans, disaster recovery, and installation depending upon the specific circumstances of the project. The Test Phase ends with a review to determine readiness to proceed to the Implementation Phase. Review An Implementation Readiness Review (IRR) is performed by the Enterprise Data Center Group (EDCG) within the Office of Information Services (OIS) to ensure the Security Test & Evaluation (ST&E) findings are acceptable risks; the validation effort was acceptable; and the Implementation Plan is sound and feasible. For specifics on this review, please refer to ILC Reviews (see Related Links Inside CMS). Artifacts A Test Summary Report and any Training Artifacts are developed. A Version Description Document, Implementation Plan, and User Manual are completed. The Section 508 Product Assessment Package, Information Security Risk Assessment, Data Use Agreement, System Security Plan, Operations & Maintenance Manual, and Contingency Plan are continued. For specifics on these artifacts, please refer to the ILC Template Library (see Related Links Inside CMS).
