Overview During the Operations & Maintenance Phase, the certified and accredited system is released into the full-scale production environment for sustained use and operations/maintenance support. Changes and problems with the automated system/application or other IT solution may continually be identified and resolved to ensure that the system/application or other technological solution meets ongoing functional and non-functional needs. The automated system/application will need to undergo an operational analysis annually as well as periodically be re-certified and re-accredited for continued operation in the production environment. When the time comes that the automated system/application or other technological solution will no longer be needed or will be replaced, then a plan for final disposition of the system/application or IT solution must be prepared as the system/application or IT solution moves into the Disposition Phase. Review A Post Implementation Review (PIR) is performed by the Technical Review Board (TRB) to ensure the application meets the performance requirements and business needs. An Annual Operational Analysis Review (OAR) is performed by the business and system owner to determine whether the IT Investment should continue, be modified or be terminated. For specifics on these reviews, please refer to ILC Reviews (see Related Links Inside CMS). Artifacts A Project Closeout Report and Post Implementation Report are developed upon project completion. Subsequently, an Operational Analysis Report is developed annually. In addition, an Annual Security Controls Testing Artifact is produced and an Annual Contingency Plan Test is conducted. All other artifacts associated with the automated system/application solution or other IT solution are updated as necessary to reflect the current operational state.
