Description: This demonstration was mandated under sec.641 of the MMA. It covered certain oral and self-administrable drugs and biologicals that replaced the need for drugs covered under Medicare Part B. The demonstration began in Sept. 2004. The last date for submitting applications was Nov 30, 2005. As of that date, 42,200 beneficiaries were enrolled for coverage for drugs to treat cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and other serious illnesses. The demonstration will end Dec. 31, 2005.
