ESRD Prospective Payment System (ESRD PPS) Overview of 2011 and 2012 Claims-Based Monitoring Program

Since the implementation of the ESRD PPS in January 2011, CMS has monitored outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries receiving outpatient maintenance dialysis.  The workbook displays several key trends from 2011 and the first three quarters of 2012.  While the ESRD PPS has impacted utilization of certain ESRD-related services and procedures, no sustained changes in beneficiary health status were observed during the monitoring period.

ESRD PPS Special Open Door Forum

On October 15, 2009, CMS hosted an End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Prospective Payment System (PPS) Special Open Door Forum (ODF). During the ODF, CMS provided an overview of the ESRD PPS proposed rule that was published in the Federal Register on September 29, 2009. ESRD PPS Town Hall Meeting

On October 23, 2009, CMS hosted an End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Prospective Payment System (PPS) Town Hall Meeting. This meeting allowed the public to present their perspective on the ESRD PPS proposed rule that was published in the Federal Register on September 29, 2009.
