Software

Facility Software:

  • jIRVEN Migration Tool v.1.1.3
  • jIRVEN 1.0.0 (Inpatient Rehabilitation Validation and Entry system) is a java based application that allows Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) providers to collect and subsequently submit the IRF- Patient Assessment Instrument (PAI) to the CMS national repository.  The software maintains facility, patient and assessment information.  iIRVEN is free software.  Consult the jIRVEN Installation Guide and jIRVEN User Guide for further information.
  • IRVEN (Inpatient Rehabilitation Validation and Entry) is a computerized data entry system for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs). IRVEN offers users the ability to collect the IRF Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) in a database and creates a file in CMS-standard format that can be electronically transmitted to the IRF-PAI National database. The data collected is used for assessing the clinical characteristics of patients in rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation units in acute care hospitals. The data will provide survey agencies with a means to objectively measure and compare facility performance and quality. It will also provide researchers with information to support the development of improved standards. The data entry software imports and exports data in standard CMS record format. The software maintains facility and patient information, enforces data integrity via rigorous edit checks, and provides comprehensive online help. It includes a data dictionary and a grouper calculation.
    • IRVEN Version 2.5 (09/15/2011) updates the CMG grouper and the ICD-9 code lookup database, which go into effect on October 1, 2011. Refer to the RELNOTES.pdf file for further details.

Data Specifications:

  • Errata for IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 1.10.1 (5-8-2012)
  • FINAL - IRF PAI Data Specifications (Version 1.10.1) -- in effect on October 1, 2012.  A major change with this version is that the submission format for IRF-PAI assessments is XML, rather than the fixed format string used in the past
  • IRF PAI Data Specifications (Version 1.01A, Revision 7) -- in effect on October 1, 2011

Case Mix Grouper (CMG):

There are no CMG changes required for FY2013 (10/1/2012 – 9/30/2013).  The CMG Grouper Version 2.60 currently in use for FY2012 will remain in effect unchanged for FY2013.  Existing software to call the grouper should work correctly without any revision.

  • Errata for CMG 2.60 Version 2.60 Grouper Package--in effect on October 1, 2011
  • CMG 2.60 Version 2.60 Grouper Package--in effect on October 1, 2011

For IRF-PAI assessments submitted on or after 10/1/2012, data must be submitted in XML format conforming with the the IRF-PAI Data Submission Specifications Version 1.10.1.  To facilitate testing of software revisions for the 10/1/2012 change to XML submission, IRF-PAI test records in XML format have been developed for testing CMG Version 2.60 classification.
