CMS Measures Inventory
Overview
The CMS Measures Inventory is a compilation of measures used by CMS in various quality, reporting and payment programs. Measures are categorized by CMS program, condition/topic, measure type, data source, setting, status or anticipated use, endorsement status, measure steward, and measure contractor. The inventory contains measure information for measures in a particular CMS program including: measure description, numerator, denominator and exclusion statements; data source; condition/subcondition; and NQF endorsement information.
The CMS Measures Inventory is updated quarterly. An zipped Excel file updated as of December 31, 2012 is available in the “Downloads” section below.

NOTES:
The measure information contained in the inventory’s current tab is derived primarily from the CMS programs' specifications manual. Detailed specifications for each measure are not captured in the CMS Measures Inventory. To obtain detailed measure specifications, see the reference tab on the spreadsheet to access the web links to the CMS programs' specifications manual.
The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) provides separate manuals for each PQRS reporting option: Individual, Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO), Measure Group, and Electronic Health Record (EHR). Measures available under the individual reporting option that are also available in other reporting option(s) are captured in the CMS Measures Inventory using information obtained only in the PQRS Specifications Manual for Claims and Registry Reporting of Individual Measures.
