NEW! – Clarification on CY 2012 MA Enrollment and Disenrollment Guidance
CMS has clarified a few items in the CY 2012 guidance. These clarifications include an expansion of the 5-Star SEP for cost plans and a coordinating Part D SEP for individuals who use the 5-Star SEP. The CY 2012 guidance has been updated and is now available below. The HPMS memo summarizing all the clarifications is also available below. Notes Regarding CY 2012 MA Enrollment and Disenrollment Guidance:
All enrollments with an effective date on or after January 1, 2012 must be processed in accordance with the revised guidance requirements, including new model enrollment forms and notices provided.
While CMS expects MA organizations to update all model correspondence in accordance with the updated versions, there are some model exhibits in the MA enrollment guidance that have changes so minimal that plans are not required to submit updates at this time. However, CMS expects that plan model notices will reflect these changes the next time the MA organization chooses to update them (or when CMS updates them further). Exhibits in the MA enrollment guidance update that have minimal changes not requiring immediate updating are: Exhibits 6, 6a, 6d, 11, 12, 13, 14, 24, 27, 27a, 28, and 28a.
Please note that the draft Cost Plan Enrollment and Disenrollment Guidance (Chapter 17d) update will be released separately. CMS expects this draft to be available for review and comment soon.
NEW! – Cost Plan Alternative Enrollment Mechanisms
CMS has established guidance for cost plans who wish to utilize telephone or online enrollment mechanisms, both directly through the plan or through CMS' Medicare online enrollment center and 1-800-MEDICARE.
