The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) establishes partnerships with organizations, agencies, and other groups that provide advocacy and support to persons with disabilities and their families and their caregivers. These partnerships have four primary purposes: - Provide credible information about CMS programs, policies, services, and protections to this diverse, and hard-to-reach group of customers via teleconferences and advocacy meetings;
- Facilitate opportunities for receiving feedback on the effectiveness and/or impact of CMS programs and outreach activities on the disability community;
- Increase awareness and sensitivity about the concerns and issues of the disability community among CMS staff, agents and partners, including provider and insurance communities; and
- Educate the disability community about changes to national health care policy that will impact their membership.
