On March 19, 2004, we announced that we would use our advisory opinion procedures to issue determinations regarding whether a hospital was subject to the 18-month moratorium on physician ownership and investment interests in "specialty hospitals." The moratorium was established under section 507 of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, and was in effect from December 8, 2003 through June 7, 2005.
