National Provider Call: Open Payments (the Sunshine Act): Registration, Review, and Dispute
About this session: CMS experts give a brief introductory presentation about Open Payments, providing an overview of the registration and review and dispute process in the Open Payments system. This overview will be followed by answers to questions submitted prior to the call and an opportunity for participants to interact with our subject matter experts during a live question and answer session.

* For the purposes of Open Payments, a “physician” is any of the following types of professionals that are legally authorized by the state to practice, regardless of whether they are Medicare, Medicaid, or Children's health Insurance Program (CHIP) providers: Doctors of medicine or osteopathy practicing medicine or surgery, doctors of dental medicine or dental surgery practicing dentistry, doctors of podiatric medicine, doctors of optometry, and chiropractors.
Note: Medical residents are excluded from the definition of physicians for the purpose of this program.

About this session: CMS experts give a brief introductory presentation about Open Payments, providing a concise overview of physician and teaching hospital CMS registration phases, and the upcoming review and dispute process. Open Payments Phase 1 of 2 - Overview of Industry Data Registration & Data Submission

About this session: CMS conducts a webinar to explain requirements for Open Payments Phase 1 registration and data submission.

Session date and time: February 25, 2014, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST

Target audience: The content of this webinar primarily impacts applicable manufacturers and applicable GPOs. Their authorized official (the entity’s executive-level officer who can legally represent the organization), or their authorized representative is also impacted, because these individuals need to register in CMS’ Enterprise Portal and the Open Payments system. The authorized official or authorized representative who will complete Phase 1 data submission should also review this information. Other interested participants, such as affected physicians and teaching hospital representatives, are also welcome to review this but are not required to take any action at this time.

Open Payments Technology-Focused Webinar Series: Follow-up Session - Open Payments Registration and Data Submission Q&As

Open Payments Technology-Focused Webinar Series: Registration and Data Submission

About these sessions: CMS presents a series of technology-focused webinars designed to introduce features of the Open Payments system currently in development.
The first two of these webinars was held on November 19 in a two-hour session that covered two major Open Payments components:

  1. Registration, and
  2. Data submission.

Target audience:

  • Webinar 1 (1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.): Open Payments Registration
    This first hour is targeted to individuals who represent manufacturers of drugs, devices, biologicals, or medical supplies, plus distributors, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), or other entities required to submit data under Open Payments. Other interested participants are welcome to review this information.
  • Webinar 2 (2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.): Data Submission
    This second hour is targeted to individuals responsible for creating data submission files for manufacturers of drugs, devices, biologicals, or medical supplies, plus distributors, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), or other entities submitting data under Open Payments. Other interested participants are welcome to review this information.
