Food Assistance Helping to get food assistance for your clients who are homeless can be a simple process because food stamps is the primary benefit program that applies to all individuals, regardless of their housing status. The Food Stamp Program can provide your clients who are homeless with benefits they can use like cash to purchase food at most grocery stores. Additional Food Assistance Options Pregnant and nursing mothers, who are homeless, and children up to 5 years of age may also be eligible for the Special Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The WIC program can be a useful resource for food staples such as bread, milk, cheese, and juice. You can access more information about the WIC program at www.fns.usda.gov/wic/aboutwic/wicataglance.htm.
