I believe when this code was added to the ICD-9 book that it should have automatically been added to both PT and PTT guidelines as a payable diagnosis. It really is a no brainer that anyone with this diagnosis will be on a anticoagulate and need to be monitored by appropriate laboratory testing.It should not take this process to get "brand new" codes added to the guidelines. That should be the governments responsibility.
