The American Community Survey (ACS) is an ongoing statistical survey under the auspices of the United States Census Bureau. It highlights information on a yearly basis about the United States and its people. The ACS provides estimates of the number of insured and uninsured American Indians and Alaska Natives (alone and in combination). The 1-year survey provides estimates with low error rates at a national level of analysis. This analysis provides cross tabulations by sex, access to IHS-funded health program, and those with Medicaid for the years 2012 and 2015. The analysis is built on the comparison between the 2 years to the variables of sex, access to IHS, and Medicaid coverage. An online data extraction application, Data Ferret, provided through the United States Census website, was used to download the ACS data for the charts below.
