Ordering or Referring Supplies & Services

Only the following physicians and non-physician practitioners can order or refer items or services for Medicare patients:

• Certified clinical nurse specialist (CNS)
• Certified nurse midwife (CNM)
• Clinical psychologist (CP)
• Clinical social worker (CSW)
• Intern, resident, and fellow
• Nurse practitioner (NP)
• Physician (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, and Doctor of Optometry)
• Physician assistant (PA)
