Excludes Notes

ICD-10-CM has 2 kinds of Excludes Notes: Excludes1 and Excludes2. Each note has a different definition for use, but they both show that codes excluded from each other are independent of each other.

Note: Excludes Notes may not appear where coding examples are used in the course when they’re not related to the principle shown.
