Electronic Claim Format

HIPAA requires the submission of all electronic claims using the X12 837 format. The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 develops and maintains the HIPAA EDI standards.

ANSI ASC X12N 837I (837 Institutional) Version 5010A2 claim format is the electronic format used to submit claims.
