Part B Eligibility
People who are entitled to premium-free Part A (hospital insurance) are eligible for Part B (medical insurance).
Part B is a voluntary program that includes a monthly premium. People who don’t want Part B coverage don’t have to enroll, but they may face penalties if they enroll in Part B later.
For people with Medicare, the SSA, RRB, and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) take the Medicare Part B premium out of their monthly check.
