What Medicare Part B Covers

Part B covers expenses incurred for health services including:

  • Physician services, including surgery, consultation, office and institutional calls, and services and supplies offered incident to a physician’s professional service
  • Outpatient hospital services offered incident to physician’s services
  • Outpatient diagnostic services offered by a hospital
  • Outpatient physical therapy, outpatient occupational therapy, and outpatient speech-language pathology services
  • Diagnostic x-ray tests, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic tests
  • Ambulance services
  • Rural Health Clinic (RHC) services
  • Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) services
  • Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) services
  • Some preventive services
  • DMEPOS
  • Certain prescription drugs
  • Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs)
