Signature Guidelines for Medical Review Process
For medical review purposes, Medicare requires that services provided/ordered be authenticated by the author. The method used should be a handwritten or electronic signature. Stamped signatures are not acceptable. Exceptions to this rule are outlined in the Program Integrity Manual, Chapter 3 (PDF) and MLN Matters® Article MM6698 (PDF) .
