Data Sharing Agreements

Computer Matching Agreements (CMAs)

A computer matching agreement (CMA) is created when CMS records are matched with records from another Federal or State agency and the results of such match may have an adverse impact on an individual in relation to a Federal benefit program. For access to CMAs, visit HHS CMA website.

Information Exchange Agreements (IEAs)

CMS uses an Information Exchange Agreement (IEA) to disclose personally identifiable information (PII), and/or protected health information (PHI), to a HHS Operating Division (OpDiv), Federal or State agency. The IEA states the terms and conditions for the data exchange between CMS and the other party, including the privacy and security safeguards to ensure we protect PII/PHI.
