Pain Management Partners

The Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act (SUPPORT Act) outlines national strategies to help address the nation’s opioid and substance use disorders crisis. The Dr. Todd Graham Pain Management Study will give CMS important information about pain treatment in Medicare, and help us understand the roles of behavioral health, specialty care integration, care planning, health disparities in pain, opioid use, and opioid use disorders treatment.

CMS held a virtual discussion on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm to support the Dr. Todd Graham Pain Management Study, Section 6086 of the SUPPORT Act.  This was an interactive session for Medicare beneficiaries with acute or chronic pain, their caregivers, and advocacy organizations on barriers to care, Medicare coverage, care for beneficiaries with substance use disorders or suicidal ideation, and pain during the COVID-19 pandemic. The comments provided during our conversation will be used to inform a Report to Congress, but are not considered formal comments.
