The February 24, 2011 Decision Memo regarding the second reconsideration for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) discussed implanted permanent pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), however the third reconsideration addresses only pacemakers. We would suggest that CMS also include ICDs in this most recent reconsideration and adopt the same standards that are being proposed for pacemakers. That is, that CMS allow coverage for MRIs for patients with ICDs when such ICDs
