Trump Administration Announces $87 Million for 129 Rural Healthcare Providers Across Texas

This investment will help close gaps in rural healthcare by growing the workforce, modernizing equipment and facilities, and helping prevent and manage chronic disease across Texas

Today, the Trump Administration announced $87 million in Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) funding to 129 rural healthcare providers through Rural Texas Strong to strengthen healthcare across rural communities. This investment will help improve health outcomes for rural Texans, build a strong healthcare workforce, and modernize facilities and equipment across rural Texas.

This transformational funding will help rural providers prevent and manage chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic respiratory disease; recruit and retain physicians, emergency medical personnel, and other healthcare professionals; replace aging medical equipment; and improve existing facilities. Together, these investments will help rural providers maintain essential services and bring quality healthcare closer to home for rural Texans.

The Rural Health Transformation Program is expanding access to quality healthcare, regardless of a patient’s ZIP code, while equipping first responders with the lifesaving resources they need when every second counts. This funding will make critical investments to strengthen rural healthcare, expand access to lifesaving services, and bring modern technology to communities across Texas.

“President Trump understands that every American deserves high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “We are putting resources directly into rural communities to strengthen the health workforce, modernize infrastructure, expand access, and bring care closer to home. We are giving states the flexibility to build solutions around the people they serve, while demanding accountability for results. That is how we strengthen rural health, improve the lives of patients and families, and Make America Healthy Again.”

“President Trump gave states the resources to transform rural healthcare, and now we’re seeing those dollars move from plans into action,” said Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “Our focus now is on making sure this early progress translates into lasting results for rural patients and more resilient, sustainable healthcare systems in the years ahead. In Texas, that means rural providers can recruit and retain the physicians and emergency personnel they need, replace aging medical equipment, and help patients prevent and manage chronic conditions close to home.”

Today’s investment was made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act — passed by Republicans in Congress and unanimously opposed by Democrats — delivering a historic $50 billion investment to help states transform the way healthcare is delivered in America.

“Rural Texas communities deserve access to top-notch, reliable care,” said Gov. Greg Abbott. “This more than $87 million investment will help to recruit and retain the next generation of healthcare professionals, replace aging medical equipment, and strengthen facilities across Texas communities to improve patient outcomes.”

“The Working Families Tax Cuts Act made the single largest investment in rural health care in more than two decades,” said Sen. John Cornyn. “I was proud to support this legislation, now law, to establish the Rural Health Transformation Program, and I am glad to see this additional $87 million in funding to help Texans access care across the Lone Star State.”

“Strong rural healthcare starts with the doctors, nurses, and staff who keep our clinics open, and this funding will help Texas providers recruit and retain them. More families will get quality care close to home, and I was proud to secure this funding through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act,” said Rep. Nathaniel Moran.

“Rural Texans deserve quality healthcare close to home. I’m grateful to President Trump and his Administration for standing with our communities,” said Rep. Keith Self. “This $87 million investment in 129 rural healthcare providers throughout Texas will strengthen local hospitals and clinics and expand access to care. I was proud to work alongside my colleagues in the Texas delegation to secure this funding.”

“Rural hospitals are the backbone of so many North Texas communities, and new funding will help keep them strong,” commented Rep. Pat Fallon. “I am proud that $87 million from the Rural Health Transformation Program is coming to 129 rural healthcare providers and authorities across our state to support chronic disease prevention and improved health outcomes, rural healthcare workforce recruitment, training and retention, and medical equipment and facility improvements. By investing in the health of rural Texans, we’re strengthening families, supporting local providers, and building a stronger future for our communities.”

“The strength of rural Texas has always been its people, and making sure those folks have access to quality healthcare is essential to the future of our communities,” said Rep. Jake Ellzey. “Our rural hospitals and healthcare providers face unique challenges, from recruiting qualified medical professionals to maintaining the facilities and equipment necessary to serve their patients. This funding is an important step toward addressing those challenges.”

“This is great news for rural Texans, who deserve the same access to quality health care as anyone else. This $87 million investment will help communities across our state take a more proactive approach to improving health and preventing chronic disease. I’m proud to have an administration that understands the importance of investing in rural healthcare, which strengthens our local communities,” said Rep. Michael McCaul.

“In rural Texas, a hospital or clinic is often the lifeline of the community. This $87 million investment will help 129 providers across our state train and keep the healthcare workers our communities depend on, modernize their facilities, and improve health outcomes for years to come. I thank CMS for partnering with Texas on Rural Texas Strong and look forward to seeing these resources reach the communities of my district,” said Rep. August Pfluger.

“Every Texan deserves access to high-quality health care. I’m proud to have joined my Republican Texas colleagues in passing the Rural Health Transformation Program, bringing millions of dollars into our rural communities,” said Rep. Craig Goldman. “This $87 million will deliver stronger preventive care, support our rural health care workforce, and modernize medical facilities to ensure Texans receive the reliable care they need.”

“Texans in TX-13 deserve access to quality healthcare close to home, and this investment is an important step toward making that a reality. Through the Rural Texas Strong initiative, these funds will help strengthen rural healthcare providers, recruit and retain skilled medical professionals, improve facilities and equipment, and expand efforts to prevent chronic disease. By investing in our rural healthcare infrastructure, we can improve health outcomes and ensure rural communities across Texas have access to the care they need,” said Rep. Ronny Jackson.

“Every day, Texans continue to reap the benefits of the historic Working Families Tax Cuts Act I proudly voted for,” said Rep. Randy Weber. “Today, that means more than $87 million is heading to 68 rural hospital districts and authorities so quality health care reaches beyond the city limits and rural Texans can get the care they deserve closer to home.”

“Healthcare access is a challenge for rural Texas, making this investment a major win for our state. By fighting chronic illness, training future doctors, and supporting local providers, these funds ensure every Texan can access the care they need,” said Rep. Monica De La Cruz.

“Rural communities across Texas deserve access to quality healthcare and the resources needed to serve their patients. This $87 million investment through the Rural Health Transformation Program will help 129 rural healthcare providers strengthen their operations, recruit, train, and retain qualified medical professionals, and expand access to care. From improving medical facilities and equipment to preventing chronic disease and improving health outcomes, this funding will make a meaningful difference for rural Texas families. I applaud CMS for investing in rural healthcare providers and helping ensure communities across our state have access to the care they need,” said Rep. Pete Sessions.

“We won’t have the next generation of agriculture and energy producers providing America with food security and energy independence without access to basic health care in rural communities. That’s why we established the Rural Health Transformation Program through the One Big Beautiful Bill, securing a historic $1.4 billion investment for Texas. I’m proud to see the Trump Administration continuing to deliver through this program, now with $87 million for 129 rural health care providers across our state, including approximately $12.2 million for 23 awards across TX-19. By strengthening our rural health care workforce, modernizing facilities and equipment, and expanding access to care, we’re securing a healthier, stronger future for Rural Texas,” said Rep. Jodey Arrington.

“Texans across my home state have President Trump and his administration to thank for prioritizing their wellness in urban and rural regions alike. I am proud to see the Working Families Tax Cut Act already start to improve efforts to make America healthy once again,” said Rep. Brandon Gill.

“Providing access to healthcare comes with unique challenges when serving those in rural communities. This funding will help local Texas providers expand prevention and wellness programs where they are needed most,” said Rep. Michael Cloud.

“This $87 million investment is a big win for rural Texans, including families right here in the 31st Congressional District who will benefit from funding coming to Marble Falls. Rural communities are the backbone of Texas, and they deserve the same opportunity to receive quality healthcare. President Trump understands that a healthier America starts with stronger communities, and this investment puts that commitment into action. I’m pleased to see federal resources making their way to Central Texas, where they can make a meaningful difference for hardworking families,” said Rep. John Carter.

“President Trump recognizes that strong communities depend on access to quality, affordable health care, regardless of where families call home. We secured a landmark investment in rural health care that will help ensure smaller communities are not left behind. Texas is now taking meaningful steps to turn that investment into results by supporting rural hospitals, improving access to essential medical services, and prioritizing preventive care. I was proud to stand alongside President Trump in advancing this important initiative, and I appreciate his continued leadership in delivering real solutions for hardworking families across rural Texas,” said Rep. Wesley Hunt.

Today’s announcement is one part of the larger overall funding amount awarded to Texas for fiscal year 2026.

Key initiatives the overall RHTP funding will focus on include:

  • Building the rural healthcare workforce: Supporting recruitment, training, and retention strategies to strengthen the pipeline of healthcare professionals serving rural communities.
  • Strengthening rural facilities and access: Supporting partnerships, operational improvements, and care-delivery changes that help rural providers maintain essential services and improve access.
  • Advancing innovative care and payment models: Supporting new approaches to delivery and financing designed to improve quality, strengthen primary care, and support sustainable rural healthcare.
  • Expanding community-based and preventive care: Investing in school-based care, mobile services, and other community strategies that improve prevention, address chronic disease, and expand access to care.
  • Modernizing rural healthcare technology: Expanding remote care and data-driven tools to improve coordination and extend healthcare services to rural communities.

The Trump Administration is delivering on its commitment to strengthen rural America by investing in solutions that modernize technology to promote health and well-being for rural communities. Led by CMS, the RHTP is moving beyond the failed one-size-fits-all approach and giving rural communities the tools to build stronger, more innovative, and more sustainable health systems that deliver better care and better outcomes for the Americans they serve.
