Trump Administration Announces Nearly $219 Million to Expand the Rural Healthcare Workforce and Advance Technology-Enabled Care Across Georgia
This federal investment will help expand access to care, strengthen prevention and chronic disease management, and build a more sustainable rural health system
Today, the Trump Administration announced nearly $219 million in Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) funding to expand the rural healthcare workforce and advance technology-enabled care. This investment will support clinician recruitment and training, expand mobile and telehealth services, and modernize rural hospitals and clinics to help more Georgians receive care in their communities. Georgia has committed its full $219 million in funding to improve healthcare in rural communities across the state.
This transformational $219 million investment supports five coordinated initiatives addressing healthcare access across Georgia’s 126 rural and partially rural counties. Investments will deploy mobile clinics and telehealth pods; strengthen maternal, pediatric, behavioral, and preventive care; and support training, residencies, and incentives to attract and retain rural clinicians. This funding will also help rural hospitals improve electronic medical records, cybersecurity, and other technologies that connect providers and strengthen patient care.
The Rural Health Transformation Program is expanding access to quality healthcare, regardless of a patient’s ZIP code, while equipping first responders with the lifesaving resources they need when every second counts. This funding will make critical investments to expand access to lifesaving services and bring modern technology to communities across Georgia.
“President Trump understands that every American deserves high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “We are putting resources directly into rural communities to strengthen the health workforce, modernize infrastructure, expand access, and bring care closer to home. We are giving states the flexibility to build solutions around the people they serve, while demanding accountability for results. That is how we strengthen rural health, improve the lives of patients and families, and Make America Healthy Again.”
“President Trump made a historic commitment to rural America, and these investments are turning that commitment into better care for patients in communities across Georgia,” said Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “This is what rural health transformation should look like: federal investment that is putting patients first, driving lasting improvements and expanding healthcare for the hardworking Americans who call these communities home.”
Today’s investment was made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act — passed by Republicans in Congress and unanimously opposed by Democrats — delivering a historic $50 billion investment to help states transform the way healthcare is delivered in America.
“The positive impacts from the Rural Health Transformation Program are already being felt across our state,” said Gov. Brian Kemp. “We look forward to this needed funding providing important upgrades that will help providers better serve patients and promote the health and wellbeing of people in our rural communities so that they can prosper, no matter their zip code.”
“From my years behind the pharmacy counter, I know firsthand the challenges rural communities face in accessing quality, affordable healthcare. Your ZIP code should never determine the quality of care you receive, and this nearly $219 million investment is a major win for rural Georgia, strengthening our hospitals, expanding access to essential services, and bringing care closer to the families who need it most. I commend President Trump and his administration for recognizing that a stronger healthcare system starts with stronger communities,” said Rep. Buddy Carter.
“I proudly voted for President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, which created this $219 million investment in Georgia’s rural healthcare system. Healthcare leaders across my Congressional District have shared with me the importance of recruiting and training more doctors and nurses to serve our rural communities. This critical funding addresses those needs, strengthens rural hospitals, and expands access to affordable healthcare for the constituents I serve,” said Rep. Brian Jack.
“Every Georgian deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of where they live. As an emergency room physician, I understand firsthand the challenges families face when medical care is too far from home. For communities across Georgia’s Seventh District, this investment means greater access to doctors, expanded telehealth services, stronger rural hospitals, and better maternal and mental healthcare. The nearly $219 million in Rural Health Transformation funding will help bridge gaps in care, equip healthcare providers with modern technology, and strengthen our rural healthcare workforce. Your ZIP code should never determine the quality of care you receive,” said Rep. Richard McCormick.
“The Rural Health Transformation Program is a critical investment in expanding access to care, strengthening rural hospitals, supporting our healthcare workforce, and bringing innovative services to rural communities,” said Rep. Austin Scott.
“Congressional Republicans and President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act made this historic investment in Georgia’s rural healthcare possible. I proudly voted for this legislation, and I’m grateful that its Rural Health Transformation Program is successfully serving patients throughout the Peach State. This critical funding continues to improve services, expand access, and strengthen hospitals — ensuring our rural communities receive the high-quality care they deserve,” said Rep. Andrew Clyde.
“Better health care means more jobs, families, and opportunities in rural Georgia. I am proud to stand with President Trump and Administrator Oz in investing in our communities, and thank them for their continued dedication towards rural Georgians,” said Rep. Mike Collins.
“Georgia’s initial $219 million award through the Rural Health Transformation Program is a significant investment in the well-being of communities across our state and Georgia’s 11th Congressional District. These funds will help strengthen rural hospitals, expand access to quality care, and ensure Georgians — regardless of where they live — can receive the care they need. I’m pleased to see this federal investment reaching Georgia, and I look forward to the positive impact it will have on families throughout our state,” said Rep. Barry Loudermilk.
“The Working Families Tax Cuts is delivering real results in the 12th District of Georgia, specifically our rural communities. Through the historic $219 million dollar investment in Georgia’s rural hospitals, House Republicans and the Trump Administration are bringing care closer to home for rural Georgians, expanding telehealth services, modernizing healthcare technology, and strengthening the rural workforce. I am proud to have supported this transformative legislation and thank the Administration for its commitment to rural America,” said Rep. Rick Allen.
“The 219 million dollar investment in access to healthcare across rural communities in Georgia is just another win delivered by The Working Families Tax Cuts. Thanks to President Trump and his Administration's commitment to rural communities, the Rural Health Transformation Program funding will help expand access to healthcare, strengthen rural hospitals, support our healthcare workforce, and bring innovative services to the communities that need them the most. I will always fight for the hardworking people of GA-14, and I am proud to have supported such historic legislation,” said Rep. Clay Fuller.
Today’s announcement highlights the overall funding amount awarded to Georgia for fiscal year 2026.
Key initiatives the overall RHTP funding will focus on include:
