The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reminds all HETS vendor and clearinghouse submitters that an active provider or supplier HETS EDI enrollment is mandatory for access to HETS. Providers and suppliers must enroll and acknowledge our HETS Rules of Behavior (PDF).
In Spring 2026, we’ll transition to a new HETS trading partner management system. HETS will reject NPI eligibility requests without enrollment. Inform your customers of this requirement to ensure they maintain HETS access.
You can track the enrollment status of your customers' NPI using the HETS Desktop (HDT). The NPI management page provides a file containing NPIs that have completed the HETS EDI enrollment.
