How the Emmy application works

The Emmy application is a free, CMS-developed, open-source tool that streamlines income and community engagement reporting for Medicaid applicants and enrollees. Emmy uses consent-based verification (CBV) across multiple data sources to speed up processing, lower administrative burden, and generate cost savings.

Flow diagram showing that members start their experience in the state's portal for applicants and members and are directed to the Emmy application to enter work requirements information and connect to their employers' payroll platform. Data is then passed through the Emmy application to the state's system.

The Emmy application allows applicants and enrollees to report:

  • Income
  • Hours worked
  • Education enrollment
  • Volunteer activities
