Medicare HETS 270/271 - HETS EDI Enrollment Validation - 5/11/26

Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:

As previously announced, HETS now requires that all eligibility requests sent by third-party vendors contain an NPI with a current and valid HETS EDI Enrollment agreement between the NPI and the third-party vendor. This change was effective at 1:00 PM ET today, 5/11/2026.

If your Medicare eligibility transactions fail with a AAA error code "41" after 1:00 PM ET today, 5/11/2026 then the Medicare Provider must complete a HETS EDI Enrollment before proceeding. Visit HETS EDI: How to Enroll for information.
