Description
This project will provide non-emergency medical transportation for Bedford City and County citizens. The transportation will include trips to and from dialysis treatments, cancer treatments, and preventative medical diagnosis services. It is anticipated that to carry out this service, 14,200 volunteer service hours will be required. The number of one-way trips will be approximately 10,000. The number of miles traveled will be approximately 186,333. These trips will be provided to those who have no other means of transportation. Vehicles and oversight will be provided by the Central VA Area Agency on Aging with drivers and dispatch operations carried out by volunteer groups throughout the county and city.
