Individualized Quality Control Plans

Individualized Quality Control Plans (IQCPs)

An Individualized Quality Control Plan (IQCP) is an alternative quality control option permitted under CLIA to support quality test results.

IQCP allows laboratories to develop a customized quality control plan tailored to their test methods and use, environment, and personnel competency while ensuring test results meet the same quality standards as standard quality control procedures. IQCP incorporates many best practices that laboratories already follow.

For the official IQCP procedure, review Appendix C of the State Operations Manual (PDF) and for a step-by-step guide, review the IQCP Workbook (PDF).
