Video Tutorials Available to Assist with Coding Specific Section GG Items

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is releasing a series of short videos to assist providers with coding select Section GG items on the OASIS, IRF-PAI, LTCH CARE Data Set, and the MDS. These videos, ranging from 4-12 minutes, are designed to provided targeted guidance using simulated patient scenarios. To access the videos, click on the links below:

IRF and LTCH Section N Follow-Up Webinar Rescheduled for Monday, September 17, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) and Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Section N Follow-Up Webinar originally held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. has been rescheduled due to technical difficulties experienced during the webinar.

If you had previously registered for the August 29 webinar, you will not need to do anything to register for the new date Monday, September 17, 2018, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone registered for the August 29 webinar will automatically be registered for the September 17 webinar and will receive a confirmation email from webinars@confertel.net. The confirmation email will include a weblink, phone number and passcode along with an option to put the webinar on their calendar.

If you previously registered for the August 29 webinar and the September 17 re-schedule date does not work for you, please email webinars@confertel.net to cancel your reservation. A video recording of the event will be posted shortly after the event and those who registered for the training will be notified by email when it is available.

REGISTRATION OPEN – Upcoming IRF and LTCH QRP Webinars (August 29 and September 4, 2018) Related to Changes Associated with Coding Sections N and M of the LTCH CARE Data Set and the IRF-PAI

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting two webinars for providers at Long-Term Care Hospitals and Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities to present information about proper coding of Sections M and N of the Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation (CARE) Data Set Version 4.00 and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) Version 2.00.

  • The first webinar will occur on Wednesday, August 29, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and focuses on new reporting requirements associated with Section N: Medications.
  • The second webinar will occur on Tuesday, September 4, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and focuses on changes impacting properly coding of Section M: Skin Conditions (Pressure Ulcer/Injury).

Registration for these webinars is limited to 1,500 attendees per event on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Training Materials Available for LTCH QRP Provider In-Person Training Event, May 8-9, 2018

Training materials for the upcoming 2-day Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training event on Tuesday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 9, at the Lord Baltimore Hotel (20 West Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21201), are now available under the Downloads section below. Training materials include PowerPoint presentations and related materials to complete exercises that will be used during the event. Paper copies of presentations will not be available at the training, so it is recommended that you download and/or print the training materials if you would like to reference them during the training.

This training will only be offered in-person. It will not be webcast. However, video recordings of the presentations will be available via the LTCH QRP Training page shortly after the training.

REGISTRATION OPEN – LTCH QRP Provider In-Person Training Event, May 8-9, 2018

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting a 2-day Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) in-person ‘Train the Trainer’ event for providers on May 8 and 9, 2018, at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, 20 West Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. This event will be open to all LTCH providers, associations, and organizations.

The primary focus of this 'Train-the-Trainer’ event will be to provide those responsible for training staff at LTCHs with information about changes to the LTCH Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation (CARE) Data Set Version 4.00 that will go into effect on July 1, 2018. Topics will include information on new items, including those associated with ventilator liberation and drug regimen review quality measures. Presenters will also discuss resources available on cms.gov, support available through the LTCH Help Desks, public reporting, and use of reports to aid providers in better understanding the LTCH QRP. A full agenda can be accessed in the downloads section at the bottom of this webpage.

Training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 8.  On Wednesday, May 9, training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 5:00 p.m. ET. This session will only be offered in person and will not be webcast. Video recordings of the presentations will be available via the LTCH QRP Training page shortly after the training.

Registration for this in-person training is limited to 100 people on a first-come, first-served basis. CMS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $161 per night with the hotel for a limited number of rooms.  To receive the room discount, you must reserve your sleeping room with the hotel prior to April 23. Instructions to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate will be sent to you in a confirmation email once you register for the training.

NEW TRAINING EVENT — Section GG Web-based Training Module Now Available

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a web-based training module to address questions submitted by providers during trainings between November 2015 and August 2016 related to Section GG across the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), and Home Health (HH) care settings.  This training is designed to be used on demand anywhere you can access a browser and includes interactive exercises that allow you to test your knowledge in real life scenarios.

Specific topics for Long Term Care Hospitals include:

  • Lesson 1: Significance of Section GG for Post-Acute Care
  • Lesson 2: Assessment and Response Coding Principles
  • Lesson 3: Additional Section GG Response Coding Tips
