MDS 3.0 RAI Manual v1.17.1 Now Available

The MDS 3.0 RAI Manual v1.17.1, effective October 1, 2019, is now available in the Related Links section on the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual webpage.

This version of the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual incorporates clarifications to existing coding and transmission policy; it also addresses clarifications and scenarios concerning complex areas. Since the preliminary release of the manual on May 20, 2019, changes have been made to clarify which assessments swing bed providers must complete; the definition of the “interruption window” for interrupted Part A-covered stays; the coding of item I0200B; and changes related to group therapy policies, as well as other corrections. Please note this early preliminary release is being provided in response to stakeholder feedback. The MDS 3.0 RAI Manual v1.17 contains many updates including information related to the Patient Driven Payment Model. Please check back shortly prior to October 1, 2019 for a final posting that may contain additional updates.

SNF Quality Reporting Program Provider Training: Registration Open

CMS is hosting a 1-day training event on the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP). This event will be held in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. The objective is to provide SNFs with assessment-based data collection instructions and updates associated with the changes in the October 1, 2016 release of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 and other reporting requirements of the SNF QRP.

Subject: Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training on June 21 and 22, 2016—Updates

The focus of this train-the-trainer event is to provide SNFs with an overview of the requirements under the IMPACT Act and the QRP including: Information about the Quality Measures included in the SNF QRP; guidance on coding the Minimum Data Set (MDS)--Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) to comply with the QRP requirements; and information on data submission and reporting aimed at helping providers use the tools CMS makes available to ensure providers are compliant with the submission requirements. The training itself will take place at the OMNI Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center, 100 CNN Center, Atlanta, GA 30303-2762.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants are expected to download and bring their own presentation materials to the training. Copies of presentations will not be available at the training itself.

Availability of Web Streaming:

Since the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training is full and registration has been disabled, we will be streaming the training live to allow as many providers as possible to participate. Additionally, recordings of the training sessions will be posted to the CMS YouTube site several weeks after the event. If you are interested in viewing the event in real time, you can access the training via streaming media at:  http://breasiaproductions.com/bptv/ between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET on June 21, 2016, and between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET on June 22, 2016.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting a 2-day training event for the Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) on Tuesday June 21, and Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center. The address is 100 CNN Center, Atlanta, GA 30303-2762.

This important training is open to all SNF providers, associations, and organizations. The objective of this train-the-trainer event is to provide SNFs with an overview of the requirements under the IMPACT Act and the QRP including:

  •   Information about the Quality Measures included in the SNF QRP;
  •   Guidance on coding the Minimum Data Set (MDS)--Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) to comply with the QRP requirements; and
  •   A presentation on data submission and reporting aimed at helping providers use the tools CMS makes available to ensure providers are compliant with the submission requirements.

Training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 21.  On Wednesday, June 22, training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Registration for in-person training is limited to 250 people on a first-come, first-served basis. To make this training affordable, CMS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $138 per night with the hotel.  Those who register with the hotel by June 8 will receive the discounted rate on room reservations. Instructions to reserve a hotel room are in the confirmation email you will receive after you register.
