Outreach & Education Resources
The CMS Division of Tribal Affairs is responsible for creating and disseminating informational materials to American Indian Alaska Native (AI/AN) beneficiaries, providers, and relevant health professionals on CMS programs. This includes multimedia (video & radio), printed materials, webinars and training materials. Many of these materials were developed in collaboration with HHS (Intergovernmental External Affairs), the Indian Health Service, the CMS TTAG, and national Indian organizations. Medicaid Flyers
To help support outreach and enrollment efforts, the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) is offering a set of Medicaid Flyers that are aimed at helping AIAN consumers understand the basics:
- Who is eligible for Medicaid and CHIP?
- What benefits do the programs provide?
- How can individuals enroll?
The materials are for use in AIAN communities where it is important to discuss specific protections for applicants and beneficiaries. You can now customize print materials for use in your community.

Five printed CHIP posters were created with sports themes to be distributed in Tribal communities, schools and health centers to encourage enrollment in Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and the Marketplace.

Public Service Announcements (PSAs)
Each month the CMS Division of Tribal Affairs develops a monthly message in both radio and print to share with tribal communities. This year the monthly radio messages can be heard each week on KTNN in Window Rock, AZ; KILI in Pine Ridge, SD; KEYA in Belcourt, ND and Koahnic Broadcasting Corp (Native Voice One, Native America Calling and Earth Songs).
Along with the radio PSAs, monthly drop-in “news shorts” are running in five tribal newspapers, Indian Country Today, Navajo Times, Juneau Empire, Cherokee Phoenix, and Seminole Tribune.
