The Medicare Hospice Utilization by State reports provide state-level data on how Medicare beneficiaries use hospice services and the associated spending. The reports summarize the number of beneficiaries receiving hospice care, total covered days and services provided, and total and average Medicare payments in each state. They allow comparisons across states to identify geographic variation in hospice utilization, intensity of care, and costs. Overall, the reports offer insight into patterns of end-of-life care under Medicare and support policy and healthcare decision-making.
