Report Availability:
- Reports with financial data are available for up to 7 years from the current year.
- Reports without financial data are available for up to 5 years from the current year.
For program improvement purposes, you are encouraged to include information on how the report is used and the frequency of use.
About the Report:
The Medicare Ranking for All Short-Stay Hospitals by Discharges reports provide ranked lists of Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) based on the number of Medicare-covered discharges from short-stay (acute care) hospitals for a given fiscal year. These reports identify the conditions and procedures that account for the highest number of hospital discharges among Medicare beneficiaries and illustrate how those rankings change over time. The reports support the analysis of inpatient hospital utilization patterns, highlight common reasons for admission and discharge, and help stakeholders understand trends in Medicare inpatient care.
