Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
CMS announces a new upcoming outage and a revision to a previously announced Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system outage. Below is an updated list of all upcoming Medicare HETS 270/271 outages.
1) Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system outage #1 will begin at 8:00 AM ET on Saturday, December 17, 2016. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 5:00 PM ET on Saturday, December 17, 2016.
Following this outage, HETS will return updated 2017 deductible, copayment and coinsurance liabilities in the 271 benefit response. CMS will also install updates to the HETS application during this outage. CMS has published a revised HETS 270/271 Companion Guide (version 10-2) in anticipation of this release. The upcoming HETS release will include a change to the HCPCS codes that HETS accepts. HCPCS code G0389 (currently accepted by HETS) will be replaced by HCPCS code 76706 effective January 1, 2017. Also, HCPCS code 77057 will be terminated effective January 1, 2017. HETS Submitters should review the document provided below to prepare for this upcoming release.

2) Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system outage #2 will now begin at 2:30 AM ET on Sunday, December 18, 2016. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 12:00 PM (Noon) ET on Sunday, December 18, 2016.
3) CMS announces a new outage to the Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system. Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system outage #3 will begin at 7:00 AM ET on Saturday, December 24, 2016. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 12:00 PM (Noon) ET on Saturday, December 24, 2016.
