REGISTRATION OPEN – Upcoming SNF QRP Webinars (August 27 and September 12, 2018) Related to Changes Associated with Coding Sections GG, I, and N of the MDS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting two webinars for providers of Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) about changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Version 1.16.0 related to the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) that will go into effect on October 1, 2018. The upcoming webinars will focus on Section N: Medications and new items associated with Sections GG: Functional Abilities and Goals and I: Active Diagnoses.

  • The first webinar will occur on Monday, August 27, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and focus on new reporting requirements associated with Section N: Medications.
  • The second webinar will occur on Wednesday, September 12, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and focus on changes impacting proper coding of Section GG: Functional Abilities and Goals and Section I: Active Diagnoses.

Registration for these webinars is limited to 1,500 attendees per event on a first-come, first-serve basis.

July 31/August 1 SNF QRP Pre-Training Materials Are Now Available

Training materials for the upcoming 2-day Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Training event on July 31, and Wednesday, August 1, at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore (200 International Drive, Baltimore, MD 21202), are now available under the Downloads section below. Training materials include PowerPoint presentations and related materials to complete exercises that will be used during the event. Paper copies of presentations will not be available at the training, so it is recommended that you download and/or print the training materials if you would like to reference them during the training.

Registration for this training event is currently closed for in-person training, but there are still seats available for participating via webcast.

Training will start at 8:30 a.m. EDT and end at 5:00 p.m. EDT on July 31, and start at 8:00 a.m. EDT (this is a new time) and end at 3:00 p.m. EDT on August 1. REGISTRATION OPEN – SNF QRP Provider In-Person Training Event, July 31 and August 1, 2018

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting a 2-day Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) in-person ‘Train the Trainer’ event for providers on July 31 and August 1, 2018, at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore, 200 International Drive, Baltimore, MD 21202. This event will be open to all SNF providers, associations, and organizations.

The primary focus of this 'Train-the-Trainer’ event will be to provide those responsible for training staff at SNFs with information about SNF QRP changes and updates to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Version 1.16.0, effective October 1, 2018. Topics will include information on new and changed items, including changes associated with Section M (Pressure Ulcer/Injury), the introduction of Section N (the Drug Regimen Review Measure), Section O (including updates to guidance on Chemotherapy and Ventilator Guidance), and Section GG (Functional Mobility). Presenters will also discuss resources available on cms.gov, and support available through the SNF Help Desks. 

Training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 31.  On Wednesday, August 1, training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 3:00 p.m. ET. 

Registration for this in-person training is limited to 250 people on a first-come, first-served basis. CMS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $140 per night with the hotel for a limited number of rooms.  To receive the room discount, you must reserve your sleeping room with the hotel by 5:00 p.m. ET on July 12. Instructions to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate will be sent to you in a confirmation email once you register for the training.

When registering, please enter your name as you would like it to appear on your name tag and completion certificate.

For those not able to attend in person, a URL to access the webcast will be published to the SNF QRP Reporting Training webpage prior to the event. Please note: Certificates of completion will only be available for those who attend the training in person.

NEW TRAINING EVENT — Section GG Web-based Training Module Now Available

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a web-based training module to address questions submitted by providers during trainings between November 2015 and August 2016 related to Section GG across the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), and Home Health (HH) care settings. This training is designed to be used on demand anywhere you can access a browser and includes interactive exercises that allow you to test your knowledge in real life scenarios.

Specific topics for Skilled Nursing Facilities include:

NEW—Web-based SNF QRP Web-based Training Module Now Available

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a refresher web-based training module addressing those areas that generated the most questions during the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Provider Trainings held in June and August of 2016. This training is designed to be used on demand anywhere you can access a browser and includes interactive exercises that allow you to test your knowledge in real life scenarios.

Specific topics include:

Lesson 1: Scheduling the Part A PPS Discharge Assessment when Medicare Coverage Ends and the Resident Remains in the SNF

Lesson 2: Determining Planned and Unplanned Discharges on the MDS 3.0

Lesson 3: Combining Part A PPS Discharge Assessments with Other Assessment Types

Lesson 4: Use of a Dash on the MDS 3.0 and the Impact on the SNF QRP

Lesson 5: SNF QRP Data Collection Periods, including data submission requirements associated with the Annual Payment Update

Questions related to Section GG were excluded from these modules and will be addressed in a separate web-based training in the near future.

Training Materials Available for the August 7 SNF Review and Correct Reports Refresher Webinar

The training materials (without answers to "test your knowledge" questions) for the upcoming SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP): Review and Correct Reports Refresher Webinar on Monday, August 7, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET are now available in the Downloads section below.

The focus of the webinar will be to provide additional training and guidance on how Review and Correct Reports fit within the overall SNF QRP. Additionally, the training will also provide information on timelines and quarterly submission deadlines.

If you have not yet had a chance to register, please CLICK HERE. Those who register will be provided with a URL to access the training and download an Outlook Calendar Reminder immediately upon completing the registration process.

This training will be recorded and posted to the CMS YouTube site following the actual event.
