CMS Hosts the 2025 Quality Conference
In March 2026, CMS convened its largest-ever Quality Conference, drawing over 7,000 attendees, including healthcare leaders, clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates to discuss critical U.S. health system challenges.
Led by CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and senior officials, the conference focused on data-driven decision-making, system accountability, and scaling proven interventions for a safer, more efficient healthcare environment. Key messages intertwined over the three-day conference focused on prevention first, safety as a non‑negotiable, outcomes that matter to patients and families, technology that reduces burdens, transparency that builds trust, and affordability that makes care reachable.
Session topics included improving diagnostic accuracy and care quality, medication safety, and leveraging artificial intelligence to identify risks and improve patient outcomes, all aimed at advancing a safer, higher-quality healthcare system. Attendees also received updates on the 13th Scope of Work for the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program, which provides technical assistance to providers serving over 70 million Medicare beneficiaries.
CMS Unveils the QIN-QIO 13th Scope of Work
In May 2025, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the launch of the largest federal healthcare quality improvement initiative in the United States, the Quality Innovation Network – Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO). This five-year program, aligned with HHS Secretary Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Initiative, will span seven regions and aims to enhance health outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries. The QIN-QIO program will collaborate with numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and outpatient clinician practices nationwide by providing quality improvement support to address critical needs in the healthcare sector.
