Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
CMS reminds submitters of an upcoming outage to the Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system. CMS data center maintenance will begin at 11:30 PM ET on Friday, March 30, 2018. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period for data center maintenance. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 12:00 PM (Noon) ET on Sunday, April 1, 2018.
CMS also reminds HETS 270/271 Submitters of an important change that will become effective this coming Sunday, April 1, 2018. April 1, 2018 is the beginning of the New Medicare Card transition period. Effective this date, HETS will accept either HICN or MBI in a 270 request. HETS may also return new MSG segments on the 271 response. Please refer to the HETS New Medicare Card Release Summary linked below. Note that the New Medicare Card transition period will continue until December 31, 2019.
