CMS and CMS OMH are committed to producing resources that can help providers ensure all of their patients receive equal access to high-quality healthcare. Some of these resources are featured below.

Training

A key element in reducing health disparities is offering providers consistent, accurate, and reliable information about the programs CMS administers. CMS offers several ways for providers and other stakeholders to access information on our agency’s work. These include:

  • Medicare Learning Network (MLN) provides Medicare education and is an information resource for the healthcare professional community. The MLN provides access to CMS Program information for a variety of CMS education and communication activities and offers educational products, national provider calls and eNews and electronic mailing lists.
  • CMS National Training Program provides information about the programs that are administered by CMS. A variety of resources and product offerings including Web-based Training, Training Library, Multimedia Products, Classroom Modules, and Training Workshops to help healthcare professionals conduct outreach and education sessions, or counsel people on their healthcare options and benefits related to Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Provider Updates

CMS publishes updates to share the changes being proposed or made in it's programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP. CMS publishes this update at the beginning of each quarter to inform the public about the following:

  • Regulations and major policies currently under development during this quarter.
  • Regulations and major policies completed or cancelled.
  • New/Revised manual instructions

Visit the CMS Quarterly Provider Updates  page for more information.

Cultural Competency

The provision of healthcare services that are responsive to the health beliefs, practices, and needs of diverse patients can help close the gap in healthcare outcomes. For more information on cultural competency and enhanced Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services, visit the Think Cultural Health section of the HHS OMH webpage.
