Program Integrity: Pharmacy Education Toolkit
CMS identified and developed educational materials on five therapeutic drug classes that have been identified as having high potential improper payment rates. The five therapeutic drug classes identified are: Anticonvulsants/Antiepileptics, Antidepressants, Atypical Antipsychotics, Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs), and Stimulants. In addition, CMS developed educational materials to promote compliance with the prescribing and billing of Enoxaparin. These resources can be used as reference materials in an educational effort to promote prescribing behaviors within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved dosage guideline as a means to decrease improper payments for prescription drugs in the Medicaid program.
