Trends and Observations

An overall negative trend can be observed from Fiscal Year 2015 – 2018 however there was a 20 percentage point increase (43 percent increase) from FY17 to FY18. Some of the decrease from FY16 to FY17 can be attributed to the refinement of the Audit and Reimbursement timeliness standards in FY2017, some of which were reinstituted in 2018 as is evidenced by the increase in performance in FY18. CMS is conducting further analysis of this trend and will address requirement conformance issues as warranted.
