NEW RESOURCE AVAILABLE: Second Edition Home Health QRP Public Reporting Tip Sheet

The purpose of the Second Edition Home Health (HH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) Public Reporting Tip Sheet is to help providers understand CMS’ public reporting approach to the HH QRP to account for CMS quality data submissions that were either optional or excepted from public reporting due to the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE). The impact on CMS’ Care Compare website refreshes are also outlined. This tip sheet serves as a companion document to the first edition HH COVID-19 Public Reporting Tip Sheet published in July 2020.

CY2022 Rule Finalizes Plan to Implement OASIS E on January 1, 2023

As finalized in the CY 2022 Home Health Rule, CMS will implement OASIS E on January 1, 2023 to initiate the capture of data for the Transfer of Health Information to Provider Post-Acute Care measure, the Transfer of Health Information to Patient-PAC measure, and certain Standardized Patient Assessment Data Elements. CMS will provide training and education to Home Health Agencies in advance of implementation in 2023. Implementation was previously delayed to provide maximum flexibilities for providers of Home Health Agencies to respond to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering companion job aids to assist providers in the assessment and coding of GG0130A. Eating, GG0130B. Oral Hygiene, GG0130C. Toileting Hygiene, GG0130E. Shower/Bathe Self, GG0130F. Upper Body Dressing, GG0130G. Lower Body Dressing, and GG0130H. Putting On/Taking Off Footwear. The job aids provide clinically relevant information to assist providers in understanding specific guidelines and clinical considerations that should be applied to coding GG0130. Self-Care items. These training assets are intended for the following post-acute care (PAC) settings: Home Health Agencies (HHAs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCHs), and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). The training materials are available under the Downloads section below.

NEW RESOURCES AVAILABLE: Quick Assessment Reference Pocket Guides / Badge Buddies for Coding

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering Pocket Guides to assist providers in assessing and coding self-care and mobility, falls, and pressure ulcers/injuries. The pocket guides provide a quick reference for important terms and definitions that promote coding accuracy. These training assets are intended for providers in Home Health Agencies (HHAs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs), and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). The pocket guides are approximately 2 x 3.5 inches in size and are designed to be worn behind a provider identification badge.

This training is intended for providers in the following post-acute care (PAC) settings: Home Health Agencies (HHAs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs), and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). It is designed to be used on demand anywhere you can access a browser. This training series consists of three courses:

TRAINING AVAILABLE – From Data Elements to Quality Measures – Cross-Setting QRP Web-Based Training.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a web-based training course that provides a high-level overview of how data elements within CMS patient/resident assessment instruments are used to construct quality measures (QMs) across post-acute care (PAC) settings. The PAC settings included are those covered under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Reporting Programs (QRPs) for Home Health Agencies (HHAs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs) and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). Information covered will include a short review of the QRPs’ cross-setting quality measures (QM), how data elements feed into these cross-setting QMs, how QMs are calculated and appear on QM reports and how to access and use this data for quality improvement.

The course is divided into the following six sections and includes interactive exercises to test your knowledge related to the assessment and coding of pressure ulcers/injuries.
