REGISTRATION OPEN – Home Health QRP Provider In-Person Training Event, March 5 and 6, 2019

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting a 2-day Home Heath (HH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) in-person 'Train the Trainer' event for providers on March 5 and 6, 2019, at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, 20 W Baltimore St, Baltimore, MD 21201. This event will be open to all Home Health providers, associations, and organizations.

The primary focus of this 'Train-the-Trainer' event will be to provide those responsible for training home health agency staff with information about the HH QRP and associated changes between the OASIS-C2 and the OASIS-D which became effective, January 1, 2019. Topics will include Section J: Health Conditions, Section GG: Functional Abilities and Goals, the Pressure Ulcer/Injury Quality Measure (M1311), and the Drug Regimen Review Quality Measure. This training will also include an interactive session on the use of reports to identify opportunities for process improvement and utilize information contained in reports available via the Certification And Survey Provider Enhanced Reports (CASPER) system to develop quality improvement plans. A full agenda for the 2-day event is available in the Downloads section at the bottom of this webpage. 

Training will start at 8:00 a.m. ET and end at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 5.  On Wednesday, March 6, training will start at 8:00 a.m. ET and end at 3:45 p.m. ET. 

Registration for this in-person training is limited to 250 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. CMS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $149 per night with the hotel for a limited number of rooms.  To receive the room discount, you must reserve your sleeping room with the hotel by 5:00 p.m. ET on February 22. Instructions to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate will be sent to you in a confirmation email once you register for the training.

When registering, please enter your name as you would like it to appear on your name tag and completion certificate.

For those not able to attend in person, a URL to access the webcast will be provided prior to the event. Please note: Certificates of completion will only be available for those who attend the training in person.

A decision tree training document to help with coding Section GG self-care and mobility data elements is now available. This document provides an overview of the 6 codes and coding instructions for admission/discharge.

Please note: The following changes were made to the post-training materials. Page 5 of the Case Study Coding Sheet has been updated to correct an error in the screenshot of the 6-point scale. Pages 96 and 101 of the Section GG: Functional Abilities and Goals presentation has been updated to remove references to "instructions", so as to eliminate any confusion between verbal cueing as a form of intervention versus a form of supervision.

OASIS-D Q+A is Available  

A question and answer (Q+A) document containing responses to questions posed by providers during the following trainings on the OASIS-D is now available in the Downloads section at the bottom of this webpage.

  • The Introduction to the OASIS-D Webinar that occurred on August 28, 2018;
  • The Section GG: Functional Abilities and Goals Webinar that took place on September 5, 2018; and
  • The November 2018 Home Health Quality Reporting Program Provider Training that occurred on November 6 and 7, 2018, in Baltimore, MD.

Please note: There are a few of the questions that came in via the in-person training that are still in the process of being answered. An update to the Q+A document will be posted at a later date when the answers to those questions are available.

REGISTRATION OPEN – Follow-Up Question and Answer Session on Guidance Related to Implementation of OASIS-D on November 29

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a teleconference to address questions from providers related to changes in items collected via the Outcome and Information Assessment Set (OASIS)-D in support of the Home Health Quality Reporting Program (HH QRP). Questions were solicited from providers during webinars in August and September and a November Train-the-Trainer event in Baltimore.  The OASIS-D will become effective on January 1, 2019.

Updates to the Home Health Quality of Patient Care Star Rating

Following the 6/27/2018 MLN call describing recommended changes to the Quality of Patient Care (QoPC) Star Ratings and a one-month comment period, CMS is finalizing the proposal to modify the QoPC Star Ratings by removing the Drug Education on All Medications Provided to Patient/Caregiver during All Episodes of Care measure and adding the Improvement in Management of Oral Medications. During this webinar, CMS will present the comments received, rationale for the final decision, timing, and impact of this change.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be hosting a 2-day Home Heath (HH) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) in-person 'Train the Trainer' event for providers on November 6 and 7, 2018, at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, 20 W Baltimore St, Baltimore, MD 21201. This event will be open to all Home Health providers, associations, and organizations.

The primary focus of this 'Train-the-Trainer' event will be to provide those responsible for training home health agency staff with information about the HH QRP and associated changes between the OASIS-C2 and the OASIS-D which will become effective, January 1, 2019. Topics will include Section J: Health Conditions, Section GG: Functional Abilities and Goals, the Pressure Ulcer/Injury Quality Measure (M1311), and the Drug Regimen Review Quality Measure. Presenters will also discuss reports and other resources available to assist home health agencies in complying with the HH QRP. A full agenda for the 2-day event is available in the Downloads section at the bottom of this webpage. 

Training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 4:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 6.  On Wednesday, November 7, training will start at 8:30 a.m. ET and end at 3:15 p.m. ET. 

Registration for this in-person training is limited to 250 people on a first-come, first-served basis. CMS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $139 per night with the hotel for a limited number of rooms.  To receive the room discount, you must reserve your sleeping room with the hotel by 5:00 p.m. ET on October 20. Instructions to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate will be sent to you in a confirmation email once you register for the training.
