How they met the pledge
Well is a patient-facing app listed in the CMS Medicare App Library. The demonstration begins with an already identity-verified user (NIST IAL2/AAL2 via CLEAR or ID.me) and shows Well retrieving her health records from a CMS-Aligned Network over TEFCA (via Fasten), returned as FHIR R4 / US Core — with no EHR portal login at any point.
The user controls collection and sharing through granular, proactive consent and query-scope settings. Our opt-in Conversational AI assistant then uses her own records to provide personalized, clearly-labeled guidance — educational content kept distinct from clinical advice, with no automated decisions of legal effect, consistent with Section 1557.
For Kill the Clipboard, the demo shows Well generating a SMART Health Link — a QR carrying an encrypted USCDI FHIR bundle and a readable summary — so the patient can share selected records with a provider at check-in, alongside a patient-visible audit log. Together this covers both pledged use cases: Kill the Clipboard and Conversational AI.
