How they met the pledge

Froedtert ThedaCare is fulfilling the CMS Health Tech Ecosystem “Kill the Clipboard” pledge by leveraging the Ripple app, powered by b.well, to enable secure, patient-directed health information sharing at check-in. Through Smart Connect, Ripple queries CMS-aligned networks to aggregate patient-authorized health records, pharmacy, lab, and wearable data into a single longitudinal record.

Patients simply select Share My Record to generate a secure QR code that is scanned at registration, replacing paper forms and eliminating the need to recall or re-enter their medical history. The patient’s health summary is then imported into Epic, giving clinicians a more complete view of the patient before the visit while reducing administrative burden.

Through this implementation, Froedtert ThedaCare demonstrated General Availability for joining a CMS-aligned network, responding to treatment, patient, and payer queries, publishing to the National Provider Directory, and providing network audit data, while delivering Limited Availability for accepting SHL QR codes at check-in—bringing the CMS vision for interoperable, patient-centered care to life.
