Provider Enrollment Moratoria
Occasionally, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will restrict new enrollments in Medicare. This happens when the Secretary decides it is necessary to prevent Medicare fraud, waste, and abuse.
The State Medicaid Agency must comply with the moratorium unless it would impact access to health care.
As of January 30, 2019, there are no active Medicare Provider Enrollment Moratoria in any States or U.S. territories.
